SERVE WITH US AT ONEIGHTY WEEKEND
It’s the BIGGEST weekend in Student Ministry.
Oneighty weekend does NOT happen with out an army of volunteers.

WHAT IS A HOST HOME?
Oneighty Weekend doesn’t happen without families who are willing to open their homes to our students and leaders. It is a unique opportunity to serve and we are incredibly thankful for our host home families!
HOST HOME RESPONSIBILITIES
- A Room for the Group Leader(s) We ask that you provide a room for the group leader(s) to sleep in that is separate from where the students sleep.
- Sleeping Space for Students. Provide sleeping space for the students. This can be a living room or game room type area. The students will be bringing their own sleeping bags, blankets, air mattresses, and pillows. They will also provide their own towels and toiletries.
- Meeting Space for Students. This space can be the space they also sleep in.
- Transportation Assistance. Assist in transporting students to and from the church and home. You do not have to stay for the worship services, however you are welcome to! Make sure you let us know how many available seats you have in your vehicle.
- Complete a Background Check & Safety Training. The safety of our students is a top priority. As the event approaches we will be sending you a link to complete a background check and child safety training if you do not currently have a background check on file with FBC. Everyone that is 18-years-old and older that is staying in your home during Oneighty Weekend will need to complete this process.
- Adults must be members of First Baptist to serve as a Host home..
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
If I have specific house rules, can they apply during Oneighty Weekend?
Yes! If you have house rules like “don’t slide down the stairs on your air mattress” feel free to let the students know! If you prefer that shoes be left by the front door and not worn all over the house, just let the group know when you all arrive at the house. While the group will invade your home, we don’t want to neglect your preferences or disrespect your home. You can always post house rules on the fridge or in the common meeting area as a reminder.
Can I sit in on the small group sessions?
Our goal is to create a safe and comfortable environment for our students to be able to open up in. Just as in our regular small groups we strive to create a “relational environment” and want that to happen during Oneighty Weekend as well. If you are hosting a girls small group, we ask that the men in the home do not sit in on the group times, and if you are hosting a boys group we ask that the women in the home do not sit in on the group times. If you are hosting your child’s small group, we ask that neither parent sit in on the group time. We want all students to be comfortable sharing and maintain a healthy level of confidentiality.
What if we have small children in our home?
Having small children in the home is not a problem at all! We welcome the family environment that it creates. The only think we do ask is that they not be in the room during small group discussion times. Due to the nature of things that may be brought up in the discussion, we don’t want little ears to hear something that they are not ready to hear. Specifically in girls groups, precious little ones can be a distraction from fully participating in the discussion.
What if I can not help with transportation at any point during Oneighty Weekend?
Let us know immediately so that we can find supplemental drivers for those times if needed.
Do we need to handle any disciplinary issues?
If the issue is something like students still being wake and giggling loudly at 3AM, you absolutely have the authority to ask them to quiet down. If a student is caught breaking any of the rules we have set for the event, the small group leader can take care of it. Staff members can always be contacted if anyone is unsure of how to handle a situation.
COLLEGE LEADER
WHAT IS A COLLEGE LEADER?
Each group leader is responsible for helping lead one group of students approximately 8-12 students. The group leader is with their group for the entire weekend helping to oversee and invest in their specific group of students.

- Attend (in person or virtually) our Group Leader Training. Each group leader must attend our pre-event training(s) as well as our leader meeting on Friday night before students arrive.
- Help transport some students in your vehicle over the weekend.
- Facilitate group discussions after each main session.
